ABOUT US

BADCo is dedicated to bringing the magic of pantomime to our community, whilst raising funds for both local and National charities.

BADCo pantomimes are staged in February every year, with rehearsals starting from September onwards.  If you are interested in joining the cast, you should come to one of the initial meetings or script readings or contact us in early September expressing an interest.  New crew members can join any time between September and February, along with anyone interested in helping with music, costumes etc.  Front of House helpers are also always needed for the show nights – full membership is not always required to help in this way.  Interest from potential new members is also welcomed throughout the year – there are sometimes events and activities held over the summer, in between shows.

If the roar of the greasepaint and the smell of the crowd is what tickles your fancy, then BADCo is for you! Whether you are a budding Russell Crowe, Steven Spielberg, or just want to sell programmes and show people to their seats, let us know and you too can be one of the select few to say “I’ve been part of a pantomime!”

Junior members are welcome to join BADCo with a participating adult! See our Junior Members Policy here

We are proud to have donated almost £50,000 to charities across our 30 years of operation and remain committed to giving back to our community through theatre.

For Every Stage

BADCo is affiliated with the National Operatic & Dramatic Association (NODA), which was formed in 1899 by amateur societies in the North West of England for the purpose of bringing together members of amateur operatic and dramatic groups for their mutual assistance and combined benefit.

Each year the Association holds national and regional conferences, together with competitions for poster and programme design. It runs a Summer School, with courses ranging from make-up design to stage management, giving NODA members the opportunity to improve their craft. The Association also awards Long Service medals to those members who have given active and unpaid service over many years.

Today, the Association has around 2,300 affiliated societies and over 2,500 individual members throughout the UK and Northern Ireland. It is the only organisation of its kind devoted exclusively to the amateur stage, and is entirely self supporting.
